为什么哈尔滨的英语翻译是“Harbin”不是“Ha’erbin”？
关于“哈尔滨”地名的历史，从诞生迄今，产生了无数的译义和推断。例如从最早
产生的蒙语“平地”、“黑色的岸滩”，到满语“打渔泡”、“晒鱼网”、“水草渔村
”、“好滨”、“贫寒的小村”、“扁”、“狭长的城”，俄语“大坟墓”，通古斯语
“渡场”，民间传说“哈耳滨”，以及女真语“阿勒锦”等等。这些令人眼花缭乱的种
种解释，给哈尔滨地名披上了一层神秘的面纱。
那么，“哈尔滨”究属何种语言呢?黑龙江省档案馆纪凤辉同志，从档案中发现了新
的证据，填补了满语之说的空白。“哈尔滨”一名，根据黑龙江将军衙门档案记载，早
在1822 年就已经出现了。当年四方台网户王尚德在“罗金、报马、哈尔滨等处设立鱼圈
”，捕鱼贡鲜。而“阿勒锦”一名，首载于1874 年校刊本《金史》：“军还，穆宗亲迎
太祖于阿勒锦村（霭建）”，而1344 年原刊本《金史》，只作“霭建”，并无“阿勒锦
”字样。由此可证，“哈尔滨”一名出现的时间在先，“阿勒锦”一名出现时间在后，
而且相隔半个世纪。
从地形上看，哈尔滨处于阿什河马家沟河切割成的这一狭长地带的末端，用满语形
容狭长地带意为“扁”，其满语发音为 harbin ['hɑ:rbin]，音译便是“哈尔滨”三字。满语“哈尔滨”的这一重大发现，为哈尔滨语音语义的研究提供了最令人信服的证据。它充分说
明了满语“哈尔滨”的发音原本很简单，用汉语拼音，即不折不扣的“哈尔滨”，而且
在清代档案中，汉译始终为“哈尔滨”三字，未见其它译法。澄清了长期以来在“哈尔
滨”音转上的混乱状态。哈尔滨语义的最终确定，不仅仅是因为满语“扁状的岛屿”与
汉语标音“哈尔滨”完全吻合，更重要的是与哈尔滨历史、民族、地理环境完全吻合，
这两种吻合又有档案文献的直接记载。满语“哈尔滨”语音是一个单义词，不是复合词
。如按蒙语或锡伯语“哈拉滨”语音人手求证含义，势必把这一词义从结构上断为两层
意思，即“哈拉”是一层意思，“滨”字又是一层含义，这首先从语音上就步入分析哈
尔滨语义的误区。
纪凤辉的发现，将“哈尔滨”出史时间大大提前，并考证出“哈尔滨村”的形成与
发展。哈尔滨村大约形成于十八世纪中后期，据史料记载，最早于1763 年的承领哈尔滨
段松花江水域的是王尚德的祖父，到了1823 年王尚德之子王连茹因“贡鲜”有功，被恩
赏六品顶戴。由于哈尔滨是阿城通往呼兰的必经之地，所以江岸设有渡口，摆渡来往行
人，这个船公叫傅成德，除打鱼和摆船之外，哈尔滨村周围还有大片田地。哈尔滨村到
1870 年有了初步发展，旅店、商店、当铺以及烧锅先后设立。
据史料记载，随着哈尔滨村的形成，在它的周围香坊地区逐渐形成一些村落，如姜
家店、小北屯、田家烧锅、王家店、滕家窝堡等。到1895 年，田家烧锅已自然形成阳明
街、单井街、通天街、东升街、延福街等十余条道，居民有二百余户。1898 年沙俄筑路
人员为什么闯入香坊地区，这就不难解释了。
